Below you'll find some general information about Moxie. This should, hopefully, be useful to both myself and memebers alike! If any of this is unclear, feel free to me and I'll see what I can do to fix it. I'm not going to go in depth about the basics of tcgs, but Synthesis has some good information.

Moxie?

Moxie is a tcg that focuses on art and models from what is generally known as "pin up art." Our decks include pin up illustrations (such as those by Gil Elvgren), as well as photos of pin up models (such as Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russel). While there are some who considered this style of art detrimental to women's liberation by focusing on the female body as the most important female trait, it was liberating for those women who found pride in their sex appeal. The art form took off in the years of World War II, with soldiers painting pin ups on the sides of their planes. These images helped remind them of the ideals they were off fighting for, even while they carried images of (usually less glamorous) wives and girlfriends in their pockets.

It is an art style that glamorizes a dark time in history, while also celebrating the beauty that is the Female.

Game Schedule

Overall, Moxie is going to be a fairly slow paced, laid back tcg. Here's a few reasons why:
>> The scope of the subject of Moxie isn't limitless, so I want us all to take our time and enjoy it! Many of the more active tcgers may think of Moxie as a kind of side tcg; there are the basic tcg elements but less of the large activities.
>> I don't expect the member base to ever reach over 15. For such a small number of members, I think slower will work out better to keep things balanced.
>> I'm married, a mommy, and work 40 hours a week. I love tcgs, but I have to put other things a little higher. But that doesn't mean Moxie will be neglected.

Update Schedule:
~ General updates will be every other Friday; these will include new deck releases, level ups, masteries, etc.
~ Weekly games are set up so that they require minimal updates on my end (i.e., freebies, slots, etc.), and can be played once every calendar week.
~ Bi-weekly games will automatically update every other Friday, on the same schedule as the general update.
~ Monthly games will also automatically update on the first of each month.

What You'll Need

There's not much that you'll really need to play here at Moxie. However, I do require your trade post to have:

~ A detailed trade log
~ A level badge
~ A link back here to Moxie (via level badge or button)

Otherwise, feel free to make your post as pretty as you'd like. No, I don't mind if you use LiveJournal for your trade post. Things such as MySpace is a different matter, though. I'll visit the link you provide on the join form, and if there's any problems, I'll be sure to get in touch with you about it.

Card Types and Coupons

There are two types of cards at Moxie: regular and special. All regular decks are puzzle decks.

Regular cards are worth 1.



Special cards are worth 2.

We also have coupons that are given as rewards for games, donations, random freebies, etc. These coupons can be turned in via the forums for either 1 random regular, 1 choice regular, or 1 random special.

Levels

There are 11 levels here at Moxie. Advancing in levels is done by a combination of card count and number of masteries. Each level up nets you the same rewards: 2 choice cards, 2 random cards, and 1 special coupon. See the table below for the requirements for each level. Each 100 cards and 2 masteries past "Moxie" earns level up rewards.

Staff Pay

Yes, I intend to play Moxie. I can play all weekly games, since these are random (i.e., slots, memory), as well as Puzzle, Hard Puzzle, and the Ongoing activities. My monthly staff pay will net me the same amount of cards for all Bi-Weekly and Monthly games (except those listed earlier). I do not get donation rewards, but I do get a small reward for each deck I make. To get an idea of exactly how many cards my pay consists of, visit the Staff page. Should I ever need to hire staff to maintain the forum games, their pay will also be available on the Staff page.
